Rejuvenate Doctor’s nutrition philosophy for complete hormone health
Your customized nutrition program is absolutely integral to the success of your overall treatment. The foods you eat have a direct affect on your hormones. Your body relies on many vitamins and minerals to help produce and manage your hormones and there are numerous interactions between your diet and your hormones. Your body needs good nutrition to assist and maintain hormone balance. It also works the other way around: unbalanced hormones can cause cravings and alter your metabolism, causing weight gain.
Good nutrition will not only help preserve hormone balance, but is also a vital component to weight loss. Weight loss is a simple equation: the calories you eat less the calories you burn. To lose weight you must eat less than you burn. In addition to having balanced hormones, you need to eat healthy and incorporate more physical activity in your daily routine in order to maintain an ideal weight.
Rejuvenate Doctor’s healthy nutrition program:
Eat between 5-6 portion controlled meals each day. So in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, you should have a snack between lunch and dinner, and a small snack before bed. By eating every 3 to 4 hours you keep your body from storing too many calories (as fat) because your body has a steady supply of food to use for energy. A good metabolism converts what we eat to energy. This helps us lose weight.
During your meals, your plate should be 1/3 protein (fish or white meat: chicken, turkey, fish, soy, eggs, and lean pork) and 2/3 colored vegetables (any vegetable that is colored, not white, all the way through). Add a sprinkle of olive oil, canola oil, or almonds for your fat.
Make sure to include green, orange, and yellow fruits and vegetables; such as broccoli, carrots, cantaloupe, and citrus fruits. The antioxidants and other nutrients in these foods may help protect against developing certain types of cancer and other diseases. Eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
Avoid sugar and sweet snacks.
Drink lots of water (at least 1/2 hour before you eat, this helps your digestive system and fills you so you do not eat too much).
Your Rejuvenate Doctor will provide nutritional support and dietary counseling as part of your hormone balancing program.
